LESC Shoreline Challenge

19/6/2023 - Seven keelboats came out on Friday, 16/8/2023, for the annual LESC Shoreline Challenge. Breeze was out of the east and solid... until the start when it died and went shifty. It came back by the time most boats had made it to the windward mark, but continued to favour the shore (as it should with a name like the Shoreline Challenge). The challenge being to trust that the shore is where you want to be!

Alan and John won the coveted golden shackle while Alistair won the race

Changes to Racing

19/5/2023 -There will be a couple of changes to racing at LESC from Saturday, 3 June. The first change will be to starting order: Dinghies will be the first start and keelboats the second start.

The other change is to accommodate the preference for longer legs in the keelboat fleet and shorter races in the dinghy fleet. When all dinghies are finished, and the keelboats are still sailing, if the next keelboat is far enough away that a bounce start will go through without interruption, race committe will attempt to start another short dinghy course.

This will require resetting the timer in order to use the lights or using a flag start. Competitors should be prepared for either. Note that Race Duty MUST use a secondary timer to score keelboat fleet if using the lights OR use a secondary timer to score the dinghies and the horn pressed manually while the race hut timer scores keelboats.

New race duty instructions will be available in the box and on the website by 1 June.
